Alkavex, the steel trading business of Alkagesta, took part in Metal Expo Eurasia 2026 in Istanbul, according to a report from Alkagesta Newsroom. The company linked its attendance to efforts to develop its commercial presence in international steel markets, placing emphasis on face-to-face contact with market participants and the development of relationships across the industry.
The exhibition was the eighth International Steel Products & Production Technologies Fair and occupied 42,850 square metres at the Istanbul Fair and Congress Centre, the newsroom said. Participants included steel producers, trading businesses, technology suppliers and other industry professionals from around the world. Alkagesta described the event as a leading gathering for the global iron and steel industry in Eurasia, bringing commercial and production-focused participants together at the same venue.
Deputy CEO Nijat Osmanlı represented Alkavex during the three-day programme and met other industry participants, according to the company account. The programme addressed sustainable production, changes in technology and opportunities in global steel trade. Those subjects formed the reported setting for Alkavex’s engagement at the fair, although the newsroom did not identify individual counterparties or give details of the discussions held by Osmanlı.
The 2026 event’s theme was “Smart Steel, Smarter Future”, with attention directed towards digitalisation, automation and production processes using artificial intelligence. Alkagesta Newsroom presented those technologies as central subjects at the exhibition, alongside the broader programme’s sustainability and trade discussions. Its account focused on Alkavex’s participation and the value the company attached to direct market contact, rather than announcing a transaction. No contracts, sales volumes or new commercial partnerships were disclosed in the report. The stated outcome was an emphasis on maintaining industry relationships as Alkavex continues to build its presence in international steel trading.
